PTSA President’s Message

Hello from your Newly Revived PTSA!

My Name is Burt Miller and I am your 2017-2018 PTSA president. I and the PTSA officers want to extend a warm welcome to both new and returning families to Crystal Lake Middle. We are very excited about all the wonderful happenings at Crystal Lake this year. The new families and the recent additions to the staff promise to make 2017-2018 another fabulous school year.

We are a strong and supportive community and are excited to welcome all the new families to Crystal Lake. The PTSA has many plans for this year and we need and welcome volunteers from families new to our school as well as seasoned veterans to make it all happen! There is always something going on and numerous ways you can get involved in your PTSA and your school. Strong parent involvement is a key to a great and successful school year. Studies show, that students do much better in school when there is parental involvement in school. Children like to see their parents or guardians involved during the school hours, as it shows they care about their child’s education.

The PTSA welcomes the participation of all parents, grandparents, and guardians – all the wonderful people who care about Crystal Lake students. Our priority is parental involvement and all we ask is for your commitment and support to our children and the work of our wonderful teachers. Your support will go a long way to continuing the strong tradition of parental support, which has helped make Crystal Lake the exceptional school that it continues to be!

We encourage parents, teachers, staff, neighbors and family members to join our PTSA. You do not have to be a member to attend PTSA events, meetings or to volunteer, but the membership has numerous advantages as well as provides additional resources for your school and your PTSA. Also, as a member, you are eligible to vote at PTSA meetings on the budget, nominations for board positions, and other important issues.

With dwindling school district budgets, the PTSA is increasingly called upon to help finance more activities and programs. By supporting the PTSA fundraisers, you help to sponsor such significant programs as: College Tour/Grant, Cougar Fest, Lunch Program, Weekend Backpack program, Peer Club, and much more.

Visit our PTSA store located in the cafeteria, which has everything you need including, school spirit shirts, PE Uniforms, School Supplies and Membership Forms.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to myself or the other PTSA officers with any questions, suggestions, or to volunteer in any way that you can.

Have a great school year and we hope to see you at our first PTSA meeting on October 5th at 7:30pm.

Burt Miller
